The space

The house for rent is approximately 300 years old (fully and comfortably renovated in 2002, with the rooftop terrace built in 2023). It is located in the historic Castello area above Menaggio, on Lake Como, directly facing Bellagio and Varenna. The house is built as a bridge over a pebble-stone road and is just a five-minute walk downhill to the center of Menaggio.

The property is arranged over two floors.
The main floor features a kitchen, dining area, and living room (with an additional sofa bed for two guests), a fireplace, and a balcony with lake views.
The upper floor includes a large rooftop terrace with mountain views, a master bedroom, a second bedroom with two single beds (which can be joined into a double bed with at least 24 hours’ notice), a third loft-style bed, and a bathroom with bathtub/shower, WC, and bidet.

The house is ideal for guests who prefer traveling by public transportation. Menaggio is well served by buses and ferries, and the main railway line is located across the lake in Varenna, about 15 minutes away by ferry. Private parking for one car is available. The property is strictly non-smoking, including outdoor areas. Air conditioning is available in the main bedroom. Barbecues are not permitted on the terrace or in the garden, as smoke may disturb neighbors. Youth groups are not allowed — only couples or families — due to past disturbances in the neighborhood.

Guest access

Guests have access to the entire two-floor house. The main floor includes the kitchen, dining and living area, and a balcony with lake views for outdoor seating. The upper floor offers a very large terrace with mountain views and an outdoor dining table.

Under the bridge, guests may access the owner’s terraced garden, which offers lake views and may occasionally be shared with up to two other guests. The garden is spacious enough to ensure privacy and can be used as a work area or sun deck.

Other things to note

The house is located in Menaggio, on the western shore of Lake Como, roughly mid-lake, and just 15 minutes by ferry from Bellagio and Varenna. Menaggio is one of the most important towns on Lake Como and has been a tourist destination for over a century. From its central location, the entire lake can easily be explored using public ferries. Bellagio and Varenna are just a short boat ride away. Lugano, Switzerland, is approximately 24 km away and well connected by public transportation.
